Nina Strika started cycling road racing in 1996 in Oregon. Her race performances allowed her to be quickly upgraded to a USA Cycling Category 1 on both the road and track. Nina competed in many National Calendar events, and took top placings in the points race, individual pursuit and time trial events across the country. She set many records, and her women's hour record set 13 years ago in 1996 still stands. In 2000, Nina won the USA Cycling Masters Women's National Time Trial (age 30-34).
Nina has been coaching teams and individuals in the New York City area since 2000. As a coach, Nina strives to supply her athletes with structured training designed to meet their fitness and racing goals, while taking into consideration the need for a balanced life. She believes that cycling is an art that requires as much attention to finesse and grace as it does to endurance and power. Nina especially enjoys the opportunity to ride alongside athletes, allowing her to directly impart the
knowledge that she has gained over 12 years in the sport. Her background as an elite cyclist, learning specialist, and psychotherapist are all integral to her coaching style. Nina's expectations of her athletes are high, but her respect for their efforts is constant. |
